Double Ten Day: Taiwan's Celebration of Revolution, Freedom, and National Pride

Double Ten Day is observed on October 10 to honour the 1911 Xinhai Revolution. The Wuchang Uprising was a brave military coup that sparked a wave of uprisings throughout China and marked the start of this exciting chapter in history. The desire of ending centuries of imperial governance under the collapsing Qing Dynasty moved the revolution organized by the visionary Sun Yat-sen. People all across the nation activated for change as a result of Sun's beliefs in nationalism, democracy, and livelihood. This resulted in a new era. With the establishment of the Republic of China on January 1, 1912, more than two millennia of imperial rule came to an end, opening the way for the development of modern China.

Even though Taiwan was ruled by Japan at the time, Double Ten Day has grown in importance there, particularly since the Kuomintang (KMT) moved there during the Chinese Civil War. Today, this vibrant festival honours the memory of the revolution and its part in forming Taiwan's identity with flag-raising ceremonies, parades, and speeches. Double Ten Day is a proud emblem of independence and pride in the country since the Xinhai Revolution changed more than just China. It had an impact on the whole world and continues to inspire future generations with its brave mindset.

Receive New Medal WW1 from Japan

I was excited to receive a package from Japan today, containing three beautiful World War I medals. Many people don’t realise that Japan fought alongside the Allies in WWI before their turn as an Axis power in WWII. Japan joined the war with the hope of gaining benefit from helping war and take over German-controlled land in Asia..

Japan's first major engagement was the Siege of Tsingtao located in Qingdao of China. Where they helped the Allies claim victory over Germany. They also participated in the Siberian intervention located in Eastern Siberia, supporting the Russian State with other Allies. But lost to Russian SFSR and then Russia change to Soviet Union. After the war, Japan gained control of several former German colonies in Asia and collaborated with the Allies to build the League of Nations.
